The City routinely monitors many compounds in drinking water and follows sampling and testing requirements set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). In 2011, Burlington water contained natural radium and gross alpha levels above present EPA standards. We are pleased to announce that the radium removal systems have been running effectively at Wells 9 and 10 for over two years. These two new additions to the City's water system are effectively removing radium to levels below strict EPA drinking water standards.
