The 2021 Burlington Street Improvement project includes the reconstruction of Maryland Avenue from Congress Street to Milwaukee Avenue. The project involves replacing, aging sanitary sewer, watermain and portions of storm sewer. The project has been awarded a State Local Road Improvement Program grant to construct sidewalk and a multi-use pedestrian path. Sidewalk will be added to both sides of the street, allowing more accessible pedestrian access to the Hintz Baseball Complex, ChocolateFest Grounds and link Milwaukee Avenue to Riverside Park. The multi-use path and bike trail will connect previously unconnected neighborhoods and community facilities to the local and regional trail network.
Access to the residents, businesses, compost site, recycling center, and Hintz Baseball Complex will remain open during construction.
This project is expected to begin in early Spring with completion in late Fall.
